Hey guys, first time posting here.
So I work in a pharmaceutical company and we have a x: drive setup for users to keep files for themselves, made in AD under profile and the drop down menu.
The location of the server is offsite right now but it is being moved in house and we are currently in the process of migrating. The server has an IP xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx but has a name server of blah.ourcompany.local. My supervisor wants us to go into active directory and change every single user (over 150) to make the path blah.ourcompany.localfilesharedfolder, as opposed to it being the xxx.xxx.xxx.xxxfilesharedfolder so we can change the IP whenever we need to and it wont be an issue.
Is there a way I can do mass path changes in active directory under the profile of all our users to switch from the physical IP address to the dns server in one big swoop?
Sorry if this is confusing, but I hope you understand
